Sizzling Octopus – Gabriella's Steak Seafood & Pasta

Mark, the owner, asked my Tico Husband and I to review on TripAdvisor before we left...it was our 2 year wedding anniversary. We called ahead...spoke with Gloria...she was professional and kind. The rest, here it goes.... Great view. Awesome Lobster! Kobie Beef burgers. A Negroni...was absurdly over garnished and complicated. It’s a classic cocktail...3 ingredients. Pretty hard to ruin...but they did. I had 4 cosmos throughout dinner...they were good. Service, a little slow, but better than most. Kind and friendly faces. Well...not Mark, the owner. Coincidentally, sitting at the table next to us was Miss Costa Rica. Nice young girl with 2 polite gentleman. Mark made fake and insincere small talk with my my husband and I. He was definitely catering to the table next to us as if the President of CR was there. He wasn’t. Lol. I did kindly interrupt their convo once to ask the owner to pick one music taste. We were sitting in the restaurant next to the bar and listening to both Latin music in one ear and the Eagles in the other ear. It was not enjoyable to listen to both at the same time so I asked him to pick one. He did. :). Mark was nice, but I found him distracted and “fake” nice. My husband and I spent double what the table next to us did and we actually made his lobster sales become the best dish tonight due to ordering it and letting people view. I only know this because I heard him tell his staff. My husband and I travel within Costa Rica almost every weekend as a staycation experience. Manuel Antonio is our favorite. We could have easily become regulars, but I was turned off by the “pretend to be kind and personable” owner. More
